"Just shut up and stop squirming." Arion held her breath and obediently stopped figeting, her nerves peaking as he drew near. Her eyes were glossy and a very, very deep blue, her face extremely pale. "Are you sure this will....please, I'm not sure..." "Shut up!" Arion clamped her mouth shut, tears actually coming now. This was stupid, the whole thing, and she realized suddenly that she didn't want to go through with it. "I changed my mind." She said it breathlessly and tried to stand up, her eyes darting to the door when she realized there was no windows. However, before she could take a step, his hands were forcing her back into the chair, his lips moving across her jaw line along with his tongue. She began to struggle but he held her there with his hands, his lips on her neck. "I don't care anymore about it, please I don't..." But before she could say what she didn't, he found her main artery, his teath grazing it almost gently before the pain started. Snapping open her eyes, Arion came back to earth, realizing that she was in the owlery with a letter clasped in her hand that was adressed to her brother. It said that she got back alright, and that everything was fine. Everything except the memories and the sharp canines, barely visible except when she wanted them to be. She was infected, and she felt...empty.

Liam had been feeling extremely down since Arion had taken her little vacation, and Sarentegra had taken an extreme notice of the lack of bounce in her brother's step, the half-hearted greetings and threats to her whenever she passed by or messed up in classes. Saren had actually forced him to come down to the owlery to send a letter out to their parents, as they hadn't written in a while and vice versa. With his long chestnut hair tied back, he slunk to the drafty room and beckoned forth his personal owl- a large black beast with flecks of gold on his feathers and like-coloured eyes. The big male fluttered to his arm and accepted the letter on his fierce foot before taking off, already knowing where it was headed. Liam brushed the dropped feathers from his robes and turned to leave before a familiar face caught his eye. His breath caught in his chest and he did a double take before practically racing over to Arion's side, looking very much like an excited puppy whose Human just came home from a long away- which was true. Arion, he murmured, trying to contain himself from lunging at her and kissing her as hard as he could and wanted to.

"Liam!" She summoned a smile but kept her mouth closed, not wanting to display her infection, which was what she called it. No longer a pure mortal, her lifeline was the same...but her vulnerabilities to disease were different. Lir's syndrome was gone from her, to be replaced by a sickness that would always grip her system. She wasn't a vampire...but she lacked blood, and the sunlight was undesireable to her. She was one step closer than most to death, yet her strength had doubled, and her distance between understanding other humans had done twice that. Seeing Liam there, sweet smile and all, made an anger burn fresh inside, but she hid it. Innocence had always been her signature in life, but now, it was changed. Already there was something more primal and animalistic at work, and her lust for blood was astounding. She hadn't had any though, and refused to give into the temptation. They said she could live without it, and she had to believe them. Only he, her initiator into the vampire world, cared about whether or not she turned into something like him, a goal he was trying to follow up. He whispered to her than he would find her, and she shuddered as she knew it was true.

Hearing her say his name made him give out a full smile, straight white teeth flashing against his pale skin. He liked the lack of a lilt she had when she said his name, as the only people who called him by his first name were his family or friends and they all had profound Irish lilts. But without one, it rung warmly in his ears with Arion's own personal accent and nearly drove him wild. Yes, let's just say that Liam had some very...interesting dreams about he and Arion while she was away. For the sake of younger readers, we shant devulge ourselves further in with details. He stood infront of her and took her in his arms, nestling his cheek against her neck- not the jugular side, mind- and let out a soft sigh of contentment. Did you have a nice vacation?

Arion struggled with discomfort as it writhed in her stomach. This was Liam, she reminded herself, though she realized painfully that a profound sense of guilt towered over her and took a leading hand in her ability to cope with his love. She felt no love at the moment, for him or herself. Still, she owed him that much to pretend, however cold she felt. "It was eventfull." She realized with a jolt that this encounter could easily end in something less than good. If he chose to kiss her, an unfortunate scenerio, he would immediately notice the fangs. She was much more thin than before and very pale. She felt weak, but an anger drive that had been in her since her crossover kept her unnaturally, inhumanly strong. She noticed that now and found herself looking at him with an impure obsession. God, she needed blood, but she would die before she hurt Liam. Pulling herself out of his grasp, she turned, coughing and trying to find an excuse for her refusal of his touch. "Sorry, I have a nasty cold."

Liam wanted to kiss her oh so badly, to hold her and never let go. It was a little selfish of him but he didn't want anyone else to touch or see her for a while until he was done greeting her the Irish way- tons of kisses and a spot of alcohol. Of course, he noticed that she was thinner and paler, but he didn't want to seem overly-protective and jump to conclusions, so he kept his trap shut. It wasn't until she pulled from his grasp that his heart drooped and he figured that it was because of her cold that she was paler and thinner. However, this wouldn't stop the darling lad. I'll take the chances, he murmured, his gray eyes wanting as he held out his hand for her. She was like an addicting drug to him- he needed to kiss her, to hold her, to love her.

"I know you don't care about you getting sick, but I do." She knew it was a weak diversion, but no other form of good resistance came to mind. Her stomach was cramping up and she barely seemed to notice the way she chewed on her lower lip. One side-effect she had failed to recognize from being bitten was that her appeal was largely increased, something that even a mirror would not reveal to her, as her reflection in one had grown foggy. She looked up at him and fought the burning desire to simultaneously hurt him and kiss him, so she stayed put, frightened of the teeming emotions inside that did not belong to what she used to be.

He gave a pleading whimper and took her hands in his, bringing them to his lips and kissing her knuckles lightly before letting his lips trail up her arms. Pretty please? he asked, pouring on his full heavy lilt and giving her one of his infamous puppy pouts, his lower lip jutting out. Just one? Usually Liam wouldn't be caught dead begging to anyone that wasn't a female of his family, but Arion was an exception for well...obvious reasons.

Arion felt her mouth go dry as she opened it, for a moment almost giving into the temptation. Her eyes were half open as she leaned in, though her senses were awake and watchful as she inhaled his scent. Suddenly she broke out of the small spell she had been in, her eyes wide as his spicy aroma reminded her of learning to fly and the smell of the library and a strong, soft emotion. She had almost given in to the sharp sting of blood, but something about Liam had kept her in check briefly, so she blinked, breathing sharply and feeling horrified with herself.

Quick as anything, Liam brought his lips to hers in a loving kiss, his tongue asking gentlemanly entrance into her mouth. His arms traveled to her waist, his hands resting on the slender small of her back. Pale lids closed over his gray eyes as the want of such a long-withheld kiss was fulfilled in those moments.

Arion's mouth was wide open as his lips caught hers, and she pulled away quickly, her eyes suddenly very mean and her thoughts very confused. Though his smell had reminded her of herself, it didn't mean she wasn't still feeling those pangs of hunger and violence. She suddenly needed something to kick at and hurt, and frustration boiled inside her as she realized nothing could satisfy this lust for power except blood. "I have to go...papers to grade."

Hurt entered his eyes when she pulled away and gave them that cruel of a look. The hurt turned to a sort of betrayed note and he turned and left without another word, his gray eyes closed as he fought back frustrated feelings- Liam rarely cried but he was pretty close at the moment to doing so. His long legs carried him up to his quarters and he threw himself onto his extra-long bed, his face buried into his pillow as his fists clenched and unclenched.

Arion watched him go with a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach. She felt like a murderer, but she comforted herself with the notion that it was better to feel like one than to be one. Still...she realized with a kind of crazy happiness that this terrible sadness meant she still loved Liam, and that perhaps, once she figured out exactly what was causing this terrible conflict inside her, she could go to him and comfort him.

Liam stayed in his room for a whie before finally giving up on staking out there and he traveled swiftly to the Pitch, wherein there he grabbed his broom and took to the skies, hoping to vent out some of his emotions up in the air where no one but the birds that dared venture by the magical school could see or hear him.

Panting, she followed his course, though she did not turn at the fork that led to his room. Instead, she rushed down the stairs and through the great hall, shoving her way through the doors and out into the courtyard. It was night, thank god, and she took no time in running strait into the forest, panting as her teeth seemed to lengthen. She was a mere flitting shadow against the gray grass, and her breath rose up in a fog around her face as she darted between the trees, her body numb and her heart hurting. She hadn't wanted to hurt him, and her frustration with herself rose up into a roar of anger that she released about 5 yards into the forest, slamming her fists against a tree as tears poured out. The tree became the parts of herself she hated, and her thick nails demonstrated their strength as she repeatedly ripped at the bark, her fists bruised as she beat it angrily. Still her strength seemed only to mount along with her anger, and the adrenaline rush shocked her. Looking down at her ruined hands with disgust, a voice behind her shook her out of her reverie. "You know, it's rather amusing to watch you attack an inanimate object, but a little blood might do you good."

He felt the cool night air whip at his face and inhaled it, trying to calm himself. The breezes made by his body and broom cutting through the air brought to him the smell of tree sap. That was funny...there weren't any trees around that should be giving sap this time of the year. It wasn't a full moon so werewolves couldn't be doing it. No animal was in rut so males with horns wouldn't be attacking trees...centaur didn't usually randomly hoof at trees either, nor did unicorns. Puzzled, he swooped low over the Forbidden Forest, his wand at ready in his hand, the other holding on to the broom as he had no intentions of being knocked off by the trees that were brushing against the toes of his feet. Within the sounds of the forest he caught hints of Arion's voice and honed in on it until he heard a deeper male voice. Was she cheating on him? Well, one couldn't actually call it that as they weren't officially together and Liam was cheating on his wife with Arion- an affair if you will, but it still sparked curiositiy in the young man. He moved down into a clearing and dismounted, his broom against his shoulder, his wand still at the ready.

Arion felt goosebumps erupt all over her body and every muscle she had clenched uncomfortably. She didn't dare turn around, though at the mention of blood, a groan erupted inside that she swallowed immediately. "What are you doing here?" Her voice was cold and angry, and tears fell icily down her cheeks. "Nothing much, sweetness, just comforting a regular damsel in distress." Her face grew cold and her nose wrinkled as her lips drew upward in a growl, though her eyes were frightened and full of flittering anticipation. Her pursuer watched with interest, smiling cruelly as he observed her inward struggle. "Why don't you look at me, Arion? After all, I did cure you of a terrible sickness." Snarling an incomprehensible word, Arion turned and swiftly grabbed him by the front of his shirt, smashing him up against a tree and glaring hatefully, her sharp nails reaching for his throat. For a moment it seemed she had the upper-hand, but with a snarl and a display of fast wristwork, the tables were turned, her back forcibly pressed against him as a cold blade glittered at her throat. "Now now, Arion, no need for those kind of things." He spoke each word carefully, almost delicately, whispering them into her ear as her face contorted in an effort to delay tears. Her throat was aching and hurt terribly in her attempt to display strength, and her breathing was very carefully guarded. He laughed a little at her discomfort, dropping one hand and holding her in place with the knife. He took to trailing his fingers through her hair, playing with the fine curls at the nape of her neck. "Stop it," she whispered, finally overcome with the helplessness of her situation. "Stop what?" He continued, this time pressing his lips along the nape of her neck before anger took over. "Stop it!" Digging her nails into his thigh, he realized how dangerously close she was to something quite precious to him, and recieving the threat, he dropped the blade and smiled as she moved away from him quickly, turning to face him as quickly as possible.

Liam watched all of this from behind puzzled eyes. She didn't seem to be enjoying any of this, so that struck out the cheating possibility (yay!), but then because she wasn't enjoying this, anger rose up in Liam's mind and a red haze flowed over his vision. Snapping out of the little anger trance as he knew he needed his wits about him, Liam moved out from his hiding place, his broom against the tree trunk and his wand held deftly in his hand at an attack position, his eyes locked on the pair of them. Leave her be, he snarled coldly, his eyes like two chips of ice beneathe his red-brown brows. No one touched those precious to him and got away with it, at least as long as Liam had anything to do with it.

Arion looked startled, but not quite so much as the man, who's eyebrow rose. "Who's this, Arion? Playfriend, perhaps?" The same cocky smile had returned to his face, though it was a little shaky. Arion herself was simply horrified, and the only thought now in her mind was how to get Liam away from here. Her eyes caught the black ones of her pursuer and she knew he had already deduced her relationship with Liam and his importance to her. "Should I kill him, Arion? Will that make you complacent with our ways?" He was toying with her, as usual, though she knew how to play his game. "That's not necessary." She longed to look at Liam, to tell him with her eyes that he needed to get away, before it was too late.

Liam was quite angry, not rip-roaring pissed just yet as simple insults didn't bother him unless they concerned his mother or sisters...or his daughters, so the man's snide comment about Liam being Arion's plaything just slid off, only adding slight fuel to his firey temper. He saw the horror in Arion's eyes but didn't take it to be for him. The implied death threat, though not spoken directly to him, didn't phase Liam- he'd been told those countless times before. Of course, most of them were because of Sarentegra's being a werewolf and from students who postively hated him for some reason, but that's another story. I said- let her be, he snarled, ticked off that his demand was not obeyed.

Arion closed her eyes, wishing that Liam was smart enough to run, or something, but she knew he wouldn't leave a battle unfinished. Their opposer simply smiled, an eyebrow raised in Liam's direction. "Slow down there, Mr. Wand-Happy. I'm not sure if Arion wants me to go, do you, Arion?" Hatred hung fresh and obvious in her gaze, but he had her in a bind. If she didn't do what he wanted, Liam would recieve the brunt of his agression. "No." Her teeth were grit and her lips barely moved as she spoke. Her fists were clenched, and she moved in a roundabout way in front of Liam, doing her best to block him from the sneering vampire in front of them.

Since he was not a telepathic or a mind-reader for his skills did not lie in Divination, Liam could not possibly know what Arion wanted him to do and so he went with his own instincts of brute force and agression. Usually, as Arion knew, Liam was a nice guy with few real enemies and a big heart. But when it came to those he loved...things were completely different. Wand-Happy am I? Well then you son-of-a-bit- he was cut off by Arion's words- er...word, and looked at her before looking away. Hurt filled his eyes and the old shine seemed to fade from his face. Turnnig to get his broom, he gaze a very cold look to Arion. Fine. Have it your way, he growled at her and took off into the skies and back to the castle.

Arion watched him leave with a type of mixed relief and anxiety. Now he was gone, and she wondered if she would ever get him back. Sighing, she turned to find that Tarin, which was the vampire's name, had vanished, in his place a dead rabbit. Arion knew she didn't have a choice in the matter much, seeing as she could feel her heightened senses fading and her life force weakening. She knelt by it, her face dry only because she was out of tears.

Liam dismounted and put his broom away carefully before disappearing into the school, thoroughly steamed. What the hell went on with Arion while she was away? Before then...they had been so close and he felt so happy with just the mere thought of her. The simple notion of her lips about drove him crazy then but now...he was pissed off and the students knew it. Students of all years scattered out of the tall professor's way, not wanting to get trampled over or turned into a duck or something for saying something wrong. A few looked amused but most seemed scared out of their wits, as an angry Imura was not a very safe sight.

Arion sat quietly in the night, blood dripping from her lips before she carefully removed it with the side of her index finger. Her heart was troubled, and since the blood had made her think clear, she realized that all her resistance toward Liam, and all the pain she felt when she looked at him...all of it had been because of her lack of blood and the guilt that came with the thought of having to kill. But she hadn't killed, she had merely drank from the dead...the thought drove her insane, so she didn't think about it. Instead, she felt extreme guilt. She needed Liam now, more than before, and she knew she would never forgive herself if she didn't save what little love he felt for her. Standing up suddenly, she tensed her legs and ran, the trees flitting by as her legs pumped fast and hard against the ground.

"Oh god..." she breathed, her heart thumping. She knew this had to be a bad dream. As she ran, however, she knew somehow that it wasn't. She had ruined everything, yet at the same time, if he would have died because of her....she would have rather died herself. Could she control it now? She had a feeling that she could, though she wondered whether seeing him would awaken that fierce predator inside her again. For a moment she slowed at this thought, but refused to succumb to this new sickness inside. She now heartily wished she had never traded Lir's Syndrome for this worse fate. She had been a fool, but that would be the last big mistake. It had to be. Liam had to understand. He'd have to know what you were if he were to ever understand. Damnit. She closed her eyes as she moved through the Great Hall in the familiar pattern to Liam's room.

Saren's voice could be heard floating from Liam's room, her alto pitched tones trying to calm her sibling down. But by the deep rumbles that were Liam's vocals, it was obvious that her little plan wasn't working. After a few minutes of fruitless efforts, Saren gave up and left the room without noticing Arion there, she herself now in quite a huff. Liam, quite glad he got rid of Sarentegra, lay on his bed, quite moody at the moment, his face showing nothing but surliness, betrayal, and anger. He had trusted Arion...trusted her with his love and trusted her to love him back. But now...he didn't know what to think.
