Nocturne raised an eyebrow, "Did I say it wrong? A muggle is a non-magic person right?" she said, confused, "I think I'm what's called a half-blood... I think. But yeah, my father's a muggle, my mother's a witch, and I somehow inherited the metamorphmagi gene from her... I think anyway." She added thoughtfully, before looking to Sarentegra, "Why? Is there something wrong with muggles?"

The dark side of Sarentegra begged to rebel and thrash away, wanting to strike out at Nocturne but the calmer, more sensible side of Saren that she learned from her brother Liam to control her anger gripped it with an iron will- it wasn't the fault of someone to which family they were born in, so she shouldn't judge her by that. Now, if Nocturne had been completely muggle born, then more bolts would've sprung open and released water and that iron grip would be turned to solid rust, thusly made useless for defenses. "Ah...ye sai' i' righ'. I normally don' ge' t' talk wi' 'alf-bloo's," she replied quickly, thinking her feet.

Nocturne raised an eyebrow, "Okay..." she said, "So will you help me find what I need?" She asked, deciding to change the subject, guessing that muggles weren't that liked in the Wizarding world.

Nocturne's deduction had been correct, as most witches and wizards didn't like Muggles- they were an inferior race to them and their 'electricity' and 'plumbing systems' were just too foreign for most of them to accept- which was why Muggle Studies was not a popular class except for muggle borns and half-breeds- one would rarely find a pure blood in there, let alone a Slytherin. "Aye, tha' I will. We 'ave to go t' th' 'ame places any'ow...'ow abou' y'r robes first, eh?" she suggested, putting on a friendly face.

Nocturne grinned, "Okay." She said, re-reading her letter. She inwardly sighed, while her mother had told her small parts about the wizarding world, she had never mentioned preferences, such as muggles, though she had overheard an earlier conversation, concerning 'mudbloods' she had ignored it, unsure of what they were, but now she thought about it, maybe it related to muggle-borns. With a moments hesitation, she asked Sarentegra, "What's a mudblood? I overheard a conversation before, and I don't know what it means..." She said, hoping it wasn't offensive.

ooc:// I'm too lazy to switch accounts
Saren looked at Nocturne as she mentioned the 'm word' and gave a soft sigh. "Did any'un call ye tha'?" she inquired, getting a little protective over the young metamorphmagus. Sarentegra didn't use that word, ever, as it left a horrid taste on her tongue thanks to one of her mother's long-lasting spells. Anyone who used the word, she knew, was severely punished at X-Hogwarts and by Sarentegra if she could tolerate the person who was being insulted.

Nocturne raised an eyebrow, "I don't think so, I just heard them talking about someone." she said with a light shrug, "Why, what does it mean?" she added curiously, curling a loose strand of hair around her finger.

The hostility in her eyes faded when Nocturne assured her that no one had called her that, and she sighed softly, rubbing her temples. "It's a ba' wor' 'ere in th' Wizar'in' World. Some use i' t' refer t' those 'oo don' 'ave wizar'in' blood: those wi' Muggle 'arents. I 'a'e th' wor' an' it's agains' th' rules a' X-'Ogwarts, so if any'un calls ye tha', tell a profess'r," she advised.
ooc:// btw...Nocturne needs to turn in her homework for Prof. Liam...

"Goo'...now...to th' robes..." she said, now in a much better mood. Sarentegra glanced around before spying the place she had just recently been inside, and motioned for Nocturne to follow her. Once in there, she went to browse the racks for dress robes- she had forgotten to purchase them beforehand- while the other girl was to be fitted.

Nocturne followed obediantly, standing still when she was to be measured. She grinned when the woman ((name? lol)) handed her the right robes, and she handed over the right ammount of coins, after carefully counting them out in her hand. She packed the robes carefully into a bag, before going over to Sarentegra, feeling unusually lost.

ooc:// I totally forgot the lass's name. xD Madame somthin'...I'm too lazy to look for my books, too. ic:\\ Saren purchased her new dress robes- two of them: one in silver with black trimming and one white with green trims. After handing her coins to the woman, she looked back at Nocturne with a grin. "Savvy so far? Wha's next on y'r list?" she asked with a chuckle.

Nocturne grinned, before taking the lsit out of her pocket, she read through it, "Well, my mum's already borrowed me a cauldron, and I have a wand... but I need a cat, toad, or owl." she said, mentally ticking each off.

"Alrigh', le's go to th' Menegerie," she suggested. Not having been there before since she wasn't that great with animals that, well, could tell what she was, she didn't know where it was off the top of her head so she had to glance at the signs. Finding it, she motioned for Nocturne to follow her again.

Nocturne followed, looking around Diagon alley in awe, how could a whole street of buildings be hidden behind a single pub. She made sure to stay behind Saren as she observed various wizarding families.

One group of young adults, who had attended X-Hogwarts the term before and knew Saren, picked her up and kissed her cheeks. Saren mock-glared at the lads and shook her head, but smiled still. "You guys are rude...takin' m' 'way fro' m' new lass," she said, cuffing the tallest (he was Saren's height) on the shoulder in reprimind. "Oh...sorry 'bout that, Sare," he said, using one of the few nicknames that Sarentegra allowed them to call her. Sending them on her way, she gave a sheepish grin to Nocturne. "Sorry 'bou' tha'...they're a li'le enthusiastic t' see ol' friends."

Nocturne watched with a small smile, "At least you know people from this ...world." she said, her voice slipping into curiousity, "How do muggles not know of wizards and the like? its kinda obvious when you think about it." she said, watching the boys walk away.

The boys blew them both kisses and winked at Nocturne before finally disappearing into a pub. Sarentegra chuckled and looked back at her. "Ah...I was born in 'is worl' so I 'ave t' know 'eople. Wizar'in' Ireland's th' best e'er!" she said, her voice filled with pride that only came from nationalism. "Oh, tha'? Tha's easy. No offense, bu' muggle don'na 'ave common sense. They don' look a' e'erythin' around 'em an' see on'y wha' they wish t'. Some fall in love wi' wizar'in' folk an' learn abou' i' tha' way, bu' o'erwise...they're comple'ly oblivious," was her reply.

Nocturne's hair became plum, revealing her embarrasment at being winked at, but she listened to Saren eagerly. "So muggles don't see wizard stuff because they don't want to?" she asked finally, after a moment's thought. Her face was skeptical, "So they're not hidden by spells like in books, its because muggles dont pay attention..." she said, half-hearted realisation dawning on her.

"Well...both, really. We 'ide somethings in spells f'r the more curious Muggles and th' thin's tha' ma'e a lo' o' noise, li'e Diagon Alley," she replied, trying to clear things up a bit. She saw Nocturne's hair change colours and mentally laughed in good nature at her new friend and her darling boys, then got a pang of pain in her heart, knowing that she couldn't join them for another two terms.

Nocturne opened her mouth to say something, before she smiled, "Oh, that's cool." she said finally, smiling in realisation, "Well, now I know one thing about the wizarding world, now only about a thousand more to go" She said sarcastically, chuckling.

She gave her a lopsided grin and finally entered into the Menegerie. Immidiately after she did, the animals seemed to go crazy, hissing, spitting, and growling at Saren. She blushed and leaned against an animal-free wall, motioning for Nocturne to choose whichever she liked. "They're no' li'e this 'round anyone else, really," Saren muttered. "Oh no, Miss, they're truly not," the owner said, trying to calm down his wares.

Nocturne glanced at Saren simpathetically, "I-I'm sure its just coincidence..." She said softly, hoping to sound reassuring. she looked through various cages, before going to the shop-owner, "Which one is the cheapest?" she asked quietly, hoping to not seem too poor in front of Saren; she only had a handful of coins in her pocket, and not much more in her vault.

Saren shrugged and shook her head, knowing the real reason but wasn't for all of the galleons in the world about to tell Nocturne, whom she'd just met, about her horrid secret that only the staff of X-Hogwarts and her family and those lads that had been there earlier knew- they'd wormed it out of her eventually in the terms prior. The Owner looked at Saren accusingly but turned back to Nocturne. "Well, rats and toads are, but they're not really reliable. Cats are next and they make excellent pets and good message-carriers for short distances in a school and then there are owls- they vary in price by colour and size and are good for just about everything, except the small ones can't carry large packages," he said, obviously having answered that question before.

Nocturne looked to a cage full of small, palm-sized owls, she couldn't help but coo, "Aww, they're adorable." She said, looking to a grey one, "How much?" She asked, her eyes never leaving the small owls; having never seen any so miniture. ((sp?))

ooc:// tis miniature
The owner finally made Sarentegra wait outside, seeing as the larger animals, such as canines and serpents had started to slam themselves against their cages to get at her, and looked over at Nocturne when she asked. "Those are 2 galleons."

((oh, thanks))
Nocturne pulled two galleons from her pocket, wiping invisible dust off them before handing them over. "Can I have the grey one?" She asked, casting a fearful glance to the angry dogs, unsure of why they wanted to get to Saren.

ooc:// No problem. ^^
"Sure," he said, taking her galleons and putting them away, writing the total down on the log. He went to the cage, scolded the larger animals, and took the little gray owl from the shelf with his cage which was hardly large enough to hold a cockatoo, seeing as the small creature was well, so small. "Here you go, and thank you, Miss."

Nocturne grinned, "thank you." she said politely, taking the cage. She went outside, looking for Saren, running to the red-head when she saw her. Nocturne held up the cage, "Isn't he cute?" she asked, indicating the owl, that had gone oddly silent when Nocturne approached Saren; it had been twittering loudly when she was in the shop.
