Only complete if you have handed in your homework for Week One.
Welcome class to your first assignment. This one will only count once as opposed to essays (see ‘Point Value Thread’ for more info). This assignment is a simple one. Everyone please take out your quills, notes notebook, and your wand. Today we are going to practice turning matches into needles. Copy down the information written on the board. When you’re done copying down the needed information, please practice our new spell. Five minutes before class ends I will flip over the board and you will copy down your homework.
Five minutes before class ends...
OK class, copy down your homework:
For homework practice the spell learned today. Take notes in your journal on what happens. Then, due in one week, please turn in two paragraphs on what happened when practicing this spell. Also include the notes you took while practicing. There will be a quiz soon in which this spell is on. Make sure to practice.
Good luck everyone and remember that none of my students have ever failed.

Transfiguration Assignment #2 [glow=red,2,300]Transforming a match stick into a needle[/glow]
Notes:
Trial One: Incantaion is said, and the match stick takes a metal shape, yet still in the form of a match. The ends still need to be shaped. To improve, maybe more flourish in the wand movement, and more power in incantation.
Trial Two: Spell is verbalized with more power, and more swirl of the wand. Both ends are now pointed, and sharp. I will try pointing the wand more to the right this time.
Trial Three: Wand is pointed to much towards the right, causing end of match to smolder and melt off!
Trial Four: Pointed at the right spot, the end of the match is successfully transformed into a sharp tip, with the left side conveniently thickening.
Trial Five: Produces same results.
In conclusion, when transforming the matchstick into a needle, you must use a semi-powerful voice, flourish your wand at the right spot, and - as is important with all transfuguration - keep a strong mental picture of the finished project. The most important aspect of this transformation is placing the point int the right place. Once you start adding a pointed tip to one end of the match, the other end, in contrast, grows thicker and rounder. Further experimentation shows that, when putting emphasis on the first syllable of the incantation, the rounded end of the needle will produce an eye. Emphasis on the last syllable will only burn the sharp tip black. It is recommended that, when creating the point of the needle, to do so on the wooden end of the match, considering it's both convenient and easier.

This, fellow students and teachers, is a great example of how to RP and how your homework should be turned in not only for this class but for all classes that require it this way. This was obviously a homework assignment for one of the previous years here at X-Hogwarts. This is just an example and you do not have to do this homework nor the one for week one.
