This lesson is one that will not only depend upon you being able to pay attention, but your ability to physically out-think a creature that, though small, can and will cause you much udue stress. The water Kappa originated in Japan, though it's close cousin, the Kawako, is often confused with it. The difference between the two is that the Kawako choses to reside in rivers, while the Kappa prefers large lakes and ocassionally ocean caves.
Today we will be dealing specifically with Kappas, so before you go and tame yours, you need to know a few things. The first is that Kappas have a natural lust for blood, and standing at about four feet, they're apt to find it when there is an abundancy in humans, their favourite prey.
It is likely that because of it's origin, the Kappa is more than polite in battle, though you'll soon find out for yourself. I won't tell you how exactly to defeat them, but here are the only clues you'll be recieving: Kappa's life-source is the bowl-like indent on the top of it's head that holds a large amount of water. Empty that bowl, and the Kappa will be defenseless and docile. The only other clue you'll be recieving is that Kappas have a love of cucumbers, almost as much as they like the taste of blood.
They will try to grab you and possibly even charm you away from using your wand, though only the most stupid of you will be decieved. They look very much like scaly, ugly monkeys, but at times will employ a pitiful countenace that some wizards and witches pity. Don't be that wizard or witch. Check near the lake for a board that all of you need to enter. While there, I expect you to locate a Kappa and conquer it. I've emptied 15 into the lake, so there should be no problem. Afterwards, send me a pm about the most difficult part of taming your Kappa.
Oh, by the way: It's impossible to magic the water out of it's head-cup, and it angers them when you try. Once you've tamed it, place it in one of the various barrels I have sitting around the lake and clamp the lid on tightly.
Have fun!
